New Rats In Old Bastion
A downloadable game
New Rats In Old Bastion is an introductory adventure for Into the Odd. It is set in monolithic city of Bastion that sits upon a mysterious eldritch depths full of opportunity and danger! Unfortunately (or maybe fortunately) for your adventurers such folly will have to wait, because they need to do Odd Jobs just to make ends meet!
This particular Odd Job? Rat-catching! All sorts of new vermin have started to poke their way to the surface as adventurers plunge the depths. The Augemaus in particular has been quite the nuisance, luckily that means it pays more to get rid of them AND it seems the Bastion Scientific League has a bounty on them live or dead! Never been a better time to be a rat-catcher... kinda.
Players will help clear the Bellamaus Hotelry & Suites of their infestation and will likely find that maybe not is all that it seems...and perhaps that the Augemaus are more than just vermin.
What folks are saying:
“An anachronistic and stylish adventure that hides dark and visceral insides, New Rats provides a compelling and low-stakes hook that spirals into a maze of magic and misfortune”. - Crab Dominion, author of Memory. and The Devil Game
This is my first adventure so I would appreciate any feedback and critique you may have to offer! Please put any thoughts, comments, questions, or whatever in the comments. Reviews and ratings would also be greatly appreciated!

Loved it!! Ran this for a few friends as an intro to the system and fun was had all around! We all hope to see new odd jobs volumes in the future.
This advemture is so beautiful!! I love the layout, is there a pshysical version available for purchase?
Im glad you like it! Possibly in the future, but nothing right now. I'll keep you posted!
I recognize one of the images you comped into the cover. Its an old salt mine, I believe. Great job at nailing that Trader Joe's on opium aesthetic!
Thank you! It was a really fun project to go through a bunch of public domain art and try and get as trippy as possible 😂
Love the layout & artwork. Short punchy descriptions work well, nice having a smaller map on each page; less flicking through the PDF.
Yes, it's a bit rail roady, but for a quick one shot that's fine. Couple of rooms didn't have much purpose, I'll give the guests something to do next time, possibly have Harmon try to abduct another member of staff.
Used it today as an introduction to ItO... channeling the Ghostbusters hotel scene. Much hilarity ensued!
Nice job with this! The layout is great and consistent with the ItO style. Because you mentioned you wanted feedback/critique, I will say that this adventure feels a little low on gameplay and interaction.
The rooms encounters are a little obvious and passive in some places (e.g., the lobby and landing don't really act on the PCs). Also, the pantry says there is a 50% chance of a "simple trap" but the description doesn't say what the trap is, how it works, or why it's interesting. I think it would be better if the trap were specific and were guaranteed to be there for more interaction. Finally, the dungeon is pretty linear, with one room after another in order (with a locked room off to the side). This doesn't leave much room for player exploration.
Thank you for the feedback! I really appreciate it!
This is a great adventure, but also in Italian the names "Dithers", "Manifred" and "Harmon" sounded like a silly joke about upper limbs (dita=fingers, mani=hands and arm being arm of course). So that was an unexpected plus.
Thank you for the kind words and I'm so glad you liked the adventure!
Brilliant !
I'm glad you like it! Thanks for leaving a comment!
The layout of this adventure is superb! Having the map on each page is such a godsend. Also, really liked having the dedicated rooms for the random encounters.
Thank you! I'm glad you like it! I got the inspiration for the dedicated rooms from a Mork Borg adventure "Rotblack Sludge" its maybe my favorite adventure to introduce people to the system!
Fun & spooky, for my players and me (as newbie "Into the Odd" referee)
I'm glad you enjoyed it! I need to get into gear and finish the sequel!
this is bloody awesome. Great job!
Thank you! I'm glad you like it!
Love the looks of it. Great ” Into the Odd” feeling. More to come! Can’t wait! *gatheringdiceandpeopletoplaywith
Thanks! The art was a lot of fun to make!
